just got back from billingsgate fish market. as the name suggests, they sell seafood. and she doesn't sell seashells by the seashore. just a lil tongue twister. hah. busy market and what surprised me was at 5am, there were so many people. i gather that these people are serious about their seafood. around the hall people with huge trolley will go, "mind your feet, please".
we got some crabs, bamboo mussels(i think that's the name), a whole salmon, and half a monk fish. by the way, this is what a monk fish look like. do not be fooled by the face as it's flesh is absolutely marvelous. it's amazing because the flesh actually has texture and will not just break up. a bit like chicken but with fish taste without the fishy smell. add the bone to tomyam soup, then your soup will be gorgeous.
the crabs weigh to approximately 2.5kg, bamboo mussels 1.3kg, salmon 2.2kg, and monk fish 1.5 kg.
there were too much fishes that we could not buy. first was because i'm broke and secondly our fridge was kinda full. i deem the fishes quite cheap. they have the red grouper fish at 6.50quid per kg, and i remembered in m'sia they were selling it at about RM73 per kg. perhaps next time. next time my tailed friends. next time. *rubbing my hands in glee*
